Message from the commissioner
Welcome to the games. We hope you all enjoy the camp and all
it has to offer. We have organized these
Olympics games to encourage group fellowship and camaraderie. In the spirit of international competition all
teams must speak with their host countries accent or risk losing “spirit”
points. Any “Olympic Official” can
subtract any number of spirit points from any person or team at any time for
any reason, even if they just don’t like the accent they are using. Haha JK LOL. We do ask that all games are
approached with the spirit of Christian love and generosity. If there are any
questions about the format of the games feel free to ask. If any disputed games are brought to me for judgment
I will declare that the game in question was played in the spirit of
international cooperation and no points will be awarded.
Your Commissioner,
Ben Sonquist

Point system
Points are earned for winning games.* The total points
earned for “other approved games” will equal the total people in that
competition. For example if I play a
game of ping pong and win I earn 2 points for my team. If I play a doubles game of ping pong and my
partner and I lose, our opponents earn 4 points for their team. If a mixed team wins, say a player from Japan
and a player from Mexico team up to beat two USA players in basketball, the
mixed team would split the 4 points, earning 2 points for their respective
teams.
Points for “scheduled group games” will be earned as
follows.
·
1st Place - 20 points
·
2nd Place - 10 points
·
3rd Place - 5 Points
*Special Big Base Exception: The winning team will split 45
points (15 points per country).
Game format
“Other approved games” should be played with standard rules
based on the instructions provided in the box or otherwise agreed upon before
the game begins.
Broomball will be
played as a double elimination tournament.
Games will be played 4 v 4 with subs allowed. Goalies are allowed. Games will be 8 minutes running time. If
there is a tie at the end of regulation there will be a sudden death undefended
shootout on goals spaced 1 broomball stick apart. Shots in the shootout will be
taken from the opposite goal line.
Big Base will be
played by 2 big teams consisting of 3 countries each. The game will be 5
innings. If the home team is winning after the top of the 5th the
game will be over.
Biathlon will
consist of a 2 lap relay. The runner will shoot 5 shots at a target after
running their lap. Missed shots will
result in a penalty lap to be performed by the team. After the penalty laps are complete the
second runner will start. The second runner will shoot 5 shots after completing
their lap. The team will finish when any required penalty laps are complete.
Snowman Building
will be judged by a team of neutral observers.
Snowmen must be completed by 4:30 pm Saturday Local Time.
